Meloxicam oral suspension
Meloxicam is used to treat mild to moderate pain, inflammation, or arthritis by decreasing inflammation. It belongs to a group of medications called NSAIDs.

Meloxicam is a medication used to treat mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and arthritis. As a Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID), it works by reducing inflammation in the body. One of the common brand names for meloxicam is Mobic.
What should I tell my care team before I take this medication?
- Medical conditions: Asthma, bleeding disorders, heart conditions, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, stomach issues, smoking or alcohol use.
- Allergies: Any allergic reactions to meloxicam, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Inform if pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- Medications: Disclose use of blood clot medications, steroids, and other drugs.
How should I use this medication?
- Administration: Take by mouth as directed on the prescription label, at the same time every day. Shake well before using. Use a marked oral syringe, spoon, or dropper.
- Food: Can be taken with or without food; take with food if it upsets your stomach.
- Dose adherence: Do not use more often than directed. Complete the full course of treatment.
- Special precautions: Read the MedGuide provided with each prescription and refill. Follow specific guidelines for children and elderly patients.
What if I miss a dose?
- Missed dose: Take as soon as possible unless it's almost time for the next dose. Do not double doses.
What may interact with this medication?
- Do not take with: Cidofovir, Ketorolac.
- Possible interactions: Aspirin, blood pressure medications, antidepressants, blood clot preventatives, cyclosporine, diuretics, fluconazole, lithium, methotrexate, other NSAIDs.
- Inform provider: Provide a list of all medications, herbs, non-prescription drugs, and dietary supplements. Mention smoking, alcohol, or illegal drug use.
Important Notes
- Overdose: Contact poison control or emergency room immediately if overdosed.
- Prescription use: Only for the individual prescribed, do not share.
