Roflumilast is a selective phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitor primarily used to reduce the risk of exacerbations in patients with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated with chronic bronchitis and a history of exacerbations. It works by decreasing inflammation in the lungs, thereby improving breathing and reducing the frequency of COPD flare-ups.
