VANLID CAPSULE contains vancomycin, which belongs to the group of glycopeptide antibiotics. It is used to treat diarrhea (more often loose or watery stools) caused by Clostridium difficile. It is also used to treat enterocolitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Enterocolitis is inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, which affects the inner part of the small intestine and the colon (part of the large intestine). Symptoms include loose stools, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, intestinal bleeding and fatigue. Before taking VANLID CAPSULE, your doctor will do some blood tests to determine the exact organism causing the infection. Your doctor will check your kidney function tests before starting treatment and during treatment with VANLID CAPSULE. It should only be used to treat infections caused by proven or strongly suspected susceptible bacteria. VANLID CAPSULE is not recommended for patients who are allergic to vancomycin. Before taking VANLID capsule, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, hearing problems, circulatory problems or other gastrointestinal disorders (such as ulcerative colitis). VANLID CAPSULE capsules should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding, only if clearly recommended by a doctor. It should be used with caution in elderly patients, especially in patients with renal impairment. Common side effects of using VANLID CAPSULE are nausea, vomiting, excessive gas formation, fever, headache and fatigue. Inform your doctor if any of the side effects get inferior.
