About Olopat Eye Drop (Olopatadine)

Olopatadine is an antihistamine medication that is available in the form of eye drops. It is used to treat symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, which is an inflammation of the eyes caused by an allergic reaction. It is also sold under the brand name Opatanol.

Olopatadine works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance released by the body during an allergic reaction. Histamine causes symptoms such as itching, redness, and swelling in the eyes. By blocking histamine, Olopatadine helps to relieve these symptoms. Olopatadine eye drops are typically used twice a day, with a few drops applied to each affected eye. The medication starts to work quickly and can provide relief from symptoms for up to 12 hours. Olopatadine is available by prescription in different strengths and forms, including as a generic drug. The medication is generally safe and well-tolerated, but as with any medication, it may cause side effects such as dry eyes, blurred vision, headache, and stinging or burning in the eyes. It's important to follow your doctor's instructions when using Olopatadine eye drops and to contact your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects.
