Cosopt eye drops comprise a mixture of dorzolamide and timolol. Dorzolamide reduces the amount of fluid in the eye, which lowers intraocular pressure. Timolol is a beta blocker that similarly lowers intraocular heaviness. Cosopt is a prescription eye drop solution used to treat open-angle glaucoma or high blood pressure in the eye when a beta blocker alone does not control eye pressure. It is not known if Cosopt is harmless and real in children 2 years of age and elder.

Uses of Cosopt Eye Drop (Dorzolamide + Timolol)

  • Cosopt exactly as your doctor has prescribed. Follow all directions on the prescription label and read all drug instructions or directions for use.
  • Do not use Cosopt eye drops if you wear soft contact lenses. The preservative in this medication can permanently stain the lens. Use the medication at least 15 minutes before inserting contact lenses.
  • Read all the instructions for use that come with your medicine and follow them carefully.
  • Wash hands before using eye medicine.
  • Usage only the quantity of drops prescribed through your doctor. Wait at least 5 minutes before using other eye drops prescribed by your doctor.
  • Do not touch the tip of the Cosopt eye drops or put it directly into the eye. Contaminated eye drops can infect your eye, which can cause serious vision problems.
  • Stock Cosopt eye drops at room temperature away from wetness, heat and light. Don’t use the medication when the expiry date.

 

Side Effects of Cosopt Eye Drop (Dorzolamide + Timolol)

Stop using this medicine and go to the emergency room if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Cosopt (hives, severe itching, dizziness, sweating, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat) or a severe skin reaction (fever), sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, red or purple rash with blisters and scaling). If the drug is absorbed into the bloodstream, serious side effects can occur.

Cosopt can reason thoughtful breathing problems or heart failure.

  • • Fast, slow or pounding heartbeats;
  • • Sibilant;
  • • Shortness of breath; or
  • • Growth of the legs, rapid weight gain.
  • • Worsening of muscle weakness;
  • • Soreness or swelling of the eyes;
  • • Drooping eyelids, visual disturbances; or
  • • Damage to the cornea (the clear layer in front of the iris and pupils) - redness of the eyes, watery eyes, decreased vision, increased sensitivity to light.
  • • Bitter or unusual taste in the mouth after using eye drops;
  • • Blurred vision;
  • • watery eyes; or
  • • Redness, burning, stinging or itching of the eyes.

 

Precautions of Cosopt Eye Drop (Dorzolamide + Timolol)

Before using timolol/dorzolamide, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any of these medications. or if you have other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients (such as preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride) that may cause allergic reactions or other problems. Ask the pharmacy for more information. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially: lung disease (eg, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), certain types of irregular heartbeats (eg, sinus bradycardia, second- or third-degree AV -block) , certain types of heart disease (eg, heart failure), kidney diseases (eg, kidney stones), liver diseases, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, muscle weakness, cerebrovascular disorders (cerebrovascular insufficiency), severe allergies. If you develop an eye infection or injury, or if you have eye surgery, talk to your doctor to see if you should continue using your current bottle of timolol/dorzolamide. You might be recommended to start using a new bottle. Tell your doctor or dentist before surgery that you are using this medicine. If you have diabetes, this product can prevent the fast/pounding heartbeats you usually feel when your blood sugar drops too low (hypoglycemia). This medication does not affect other symptoms of low blood sugar, such as dizziness and sweating.
