Uses
Hydroquinone is used to gradually lighten the skin that has become dark or skin that has developed dark patches due to many skin problems. These include melasma-skin darkening due to exposure to sunlight especially in women using oral contraceptives (birth control pills), during pregnancy, or on hormone replacement therapy during menopause (hormonal drugs to replace deficient hormones in the body), freckles (clusters of dark spots on cheeks, nose, arms, and upper shoulders that start appearing at a very young age) and solar lentigines (also called ‘age spots’ are brown or black spots on the face, hands, shoulders and arms-areas that get exposed to sun light). Tretinoin is topically used to treat acne, smooth rough facial skin, reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and mottled skin discoloration. It is also used to treat a type of blood problem called acute promyelocytic leukaemia (bone marrow malignancy with an excess of immature cell). It is used as a cream to treat mild to moderate inflammatory skin disorders such as mild to moderate eczema (itchy skin rash)contact dermatitis (e.g. after contact with certain plants, cosmetics, irritants like detergents), insect bite reactions. Orally it is used to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation and to reduce the body's immune response. In general this drug is used to treat hormonal conditions when the body does not produce enough of its own st***ds, and to treat a range of immune and allergic conditions. Hydrocortisone is used as an injection for treating various conditions such as severe allergic reactions, arthritis, blood diseases, breathing problems, certain cancers, eye diseases, intestinal disorders, and skin diseases. The injectable form of hydrocortisone is used when a similar drug cannot be taken by mouth or when a very fast treatment is needed, especially in patients with severe medical conditions. This drug may also be used with other medications as a replacement for certain hormones.
How it works
Hydroquinone bleaches the skin by reducing the accumulation of skin pigment called melanin that causes darkening of skin. It interferes with the synthesis of melanin and hampers important processes within cells that produce melanin (melanocytes). The bleaching effect of hydroquinone is reversible (reversible depigmentation). Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A and belongs to a group of medicines called ‘retinoids’. It helps the skin renew itself and works by slowing the growth of certain types of diseased blood cells.
Hydrocortisone belongs to a group of medicines called corticost***ds. It prevents and treats the allergic and inflammatory reactions by decreasing the number of blood cells that cause inflammation and allergy.

No. Hydrocortisone is contraindicated in any condition where the skin is infected or inflamed.

Hydrocortisone relieves the itching associated with eczema and local swelling and itching associated with hives. It should not be used in acne, dry skin and thrush.
Q. Can I take ibuprofen, Tylenol or Benadryl with hydrocortisone?
NSAIDs like ibuprofen, Tylenol (acetaminophen), Benadryl (paracetamol, diphenhydramine, and phenylephrine) should not be taken if hydrocortisone is being taken orally. There is however little chance of interaction between hydrocortisone for local application and other drugs which are taken orally.
