Introduction of Revocon Tablet (Tetrabenazine)

Revocon Tablet belongs to a class of drugs called vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) inhibitors. Huntington's disease causes sudden, jerky, and abnormal muscle movements that cannot be controlled. Revocon Tablet reduces the amount of certain chemicals that are overactive in the body, causing uncontrolled muscle movements. You can take this Revocon Tablet with or without food. Inform your doctor before you stop using Revocon Tablet because its effects cannot be stopped suddenly. Do not take Revocon Tablet in more or less doses than recommended by your doctor. If you forget or miss a dose, do not take more Revocon Tablet. If you miss doses for more than five days in a row, talk to your doctor before starting again. Common side effects of Revocon tablet include difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, decreased appetite, difficulty speaking, nausea, vomiting, pain or burning when urinating. Tell your doctor if you notice any new or worsening symptoms such as trouble sleeping, restlessness, feeling depressed, self-injury, and suicidal thoughts. Call your doctor right away if you notice sagging lips, trouble swallowing, heart palpitations, tongue movements, blinking, or eye movements.

Directions for Use

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water or other non-alcoholic beverage before or at the end of a meal. Start the dose by first taking one tablet per day, and then increase it to twice a day a week thereafter.

Side Effects of Revocon Tablet (Tetrabenazine)

Although not everyone gets it, side affects you may experience include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, constipation, and confusion. When taking higher doses, you may experience depression. Very rarely you may begin to have mental changes such as confusion, hallucinations or muscle stiffness. If you experience any side effects, talk to your doctor and seek medical help when needed, this will ensure the safety of the medication.

Precautions of Revocon Tablet (Tetrabenazine)

You may have unusual changes in mood or behavior, difficulty sitting still, feeling anxious and irritable. Sit or stand slowly if you feel dizzy. Check Revocon Tablet's progress at regular doctor visits and watch for symptoms and side effects if any. This can cause some people to become severely depressed and increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Do not take these medicines with other medicines such as resperine and MAO inhibitors. Do not use if you are suffering from major depression and are taking antidepressants.

Interactions of Revocon Tablet (Tetrabenazine)

Drug-Drug Interactions: Caution is advised when Revocon Tablet is co-administered with MAO inhibitors (isocarboxazid, linezolid, rasagiline, selegiline, and methylene blue injection), antipsychotics, or psychotic/mood disorders. quetiapine, olanzapine, escitalopram, haloperidol, clozapine), to avoid serious drug interactions.

Food-Drug Interactions: Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of Revocon Tablet such as dizziness, drowsiness, and trouble concentrating. Some people may also have impaired thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit alcohol intake during treatment with Revocon Tablet.

Drug-Disease Interactions: People with arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), depression, liver disease, kidney disease, and Huntington's disease (an inherited disease in which nerve cells in the brain break down in time) this Revocon tablet should not be taken.
