MEFTAL TABLET belongs to the group of NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) used to relieve mild to moderate pain and inflammation associated with muscle disorders, rheumatic, joint, headache, trauma, toothache and pain after surgery surgery or childbirth. In addition, MEFTAL TABLET is used to relieve menstrual pain, symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and control excessive menstruation. MEFTAL TABLET contains "mefenamic acid" which works by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger in your body called the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX) that makes another chemical "prostaglandin" (PG). These prostaglandins are produced at the site of injury and cause pain and swelling. By blocking the action of COX enzymes, less PG is produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site. Carry MEFTAL TABLET with or without food. In some cases, you may experience some common side effects such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, indigestion. Most of these facet effects do not require clinical attention and will leave over time. However, you should talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects long term. MEFTAL TABLET may increase your risk of fatal heart attack or stroke, gastrointestinal bleeding, and stomach and intestinal ulcers and perforation.
