An antiemetic is a drug that is adequate for nausea and vomiting. Antiemetics are typically used to treat motion sickness and the side effects of opioid analgesicsgeneral anestheticsantipsychotic medication and chemotherapy directed against cancer. They may be used for severe cases of gastroenteritis, especially if the patient is dehydrated.

 

Vomiting and Nausea causes:-

  • Motion sickness or seasickness
  • Early stages of pregnancy (nausea occurs in approximately 50%-90% of all pregnancies; vomiting in 25%-55%)
  • Medication-induced vomiting
  • Intense pain
  • Emotional stress (such as fear)
  • Gallbladder disease

  • Eat six small meals every day instead of three large.
  • Do not lay down after eating. Rest with your head higher than your feet.
  • If you feel nauseated when you wake up in the morning, eat some lean cheese or meat before going to bed or keep plain crackers by the side of your bed and eat a few before getting up.
  • Drink at least six glasses of water a day.
