Introduction of Aciloc (Ranitidine)

Ranitidine is a histamine-2 blocker drug and belongs to a family of drugs called histamine-2 blockers. This acid reducer drug functions by lowering the natural production of acid in the stomach. Ranitidine is available as various brands across the globe, some of which are Zantac and Aciloc (made by Candila).
Ranitidine is an acid reducer which is used to primarily treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers. It is also used to treat conditions characterized by excessive acid production in the stomach like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Ranitidine may be given in people who have gastro-esophageal reflux disease or GERD and other conditions in which the stomach acid flows into the esophagus and causes heartburn. Ranitidine may also be used for conditions not mentioned here.

How it works

Ranitidine belongs to a class of drugs called H2 receptor antagonists. It acts by blocking the action of chemical called histamine on proteins called H2 receptors in the stomach and intestine which are involved in producing acid thereby decreasing acid formation.

Important Information about Ranitidine

Avoid Ranitidine acid reducer medication (Zantac, Aciloc) if you are allergic to Ranitidine or its other ingredients. Consult your doctor and ask him first if it safe for you to take this medication if you have kidney, liver disease, porphyria.
Ranitidine usage may lead to pneumonia, symptoms of which are chest pain, fever, shortness of breath, and green or yellow mucus in cough. Discuss about this with your doctor for your specific individual risk.
